Peplums may seem overdone and boring, but these looks have definitely turned that perception around and given us hope that the peplum is back! The above Vera Wang show was covered with peplums, along with the Yanina Couture look below. This time around, peplums are more versatile and for every occasion. However, the reason this post is not called regular old peplums is because these looks all had structured or shell like peplums, which means no, or barely there, ruffles. Continue reading for ways to style peplums the new way, including an extra unconventional method!

Along with Yanina Couture, Monique Lhuillier and Lela Rose display another peplum style: layering and pleating. Adding texture to the peplum can change up the look, rather than the regular circle trim.

Probably the easiest way to try out this trend would be to grab a jacket or blazer, and cinch the waist. This will give you the parted peplum look as the above Laskaris Couture and Yanina Couture looks show!

One of the versatile styles for both casual and formal occasions is the zipper peplum. The above Brock Collection looks remind me of pantsuits, proving this trend can be your next formal outfit! Check out the items below to replicate the look, but I did included a button down look because it's almost the same as a zipper, and it is adorable!

Now for the unconventional method of incorporating the peplum into your looks. These Vera Wang and Yanina Couture looks have a different take on the style, with a longer peplum. To be honest, the Zara look below actually gave me the thought, what if you could use a mini, usually A-line, skirt as a peplum. Wear a mini skirt high up on your waist, and throw some pants under to create this skirt peplum!
The last style is not inspired by certain looks in particular, but is a DIY for anyone to wear the peplum. Tying a belt or fabric belt around a tops waist can create the shell peplum, giving you a mock peplum. It’s a cost effective way to try this trend, while not spending too much on a top that could always go out of trend!
