Fashion month has commenced! Just this past week, runways were walked, groups of fashion enthusiasts huddled into crowds, and history was made. New Zealand's recent fashion week had numerous new trends that I break down below. Continue reading for an insight into some of this week's fashion looks!
Eugenie had some crazy patterns and fabrics put together to create the above looks. Very prevalent was the trend of half-zip jackets with materials like denim and velvet. After this show, I know for sure velvet is an upcoming fashion trend that will be incorporated into all our clothing items.
- While the off-the-shoulder trend is everywhere, I saw an interesting take on it at the Jarrad Godman and the Eugenie shows. The tops combined the choker trend with the off-the-shoulder to create an interesting one shoulder, cut out top. You can also take a regular off-the-shoulder top and put one of the sleeves up to create this one shoulder affect.
An interesting trend, that has already made an appearance in street style, has hit the runways once again. Kendall Watt's dress had a simple twist at the waist, which you can easily replicate with a rubber band. Previously, in the Cara Delevingne street style post, I blogged about a very similar top to this Kendall Watt tie waist top. Check that post out to get an almost exact copy! As you can see, I am obsessed with Kendall Watt's show and also saw this tie twist on a dress that really made the dress stand out. Check out the below items to incorporate these trends into your wardrobe.
In addition to Kendall Watt, Motel Bible added a small detail to their sleeves to had some volume. Rather than a plain sleeve, both designers added ties on the shoulders. Bows on the shoulder add minimal detail to elevate a simple top. Combine this detailing with the off-the-shoulder trend as Motel Bible did in their collection. Comment down below if you try out any of these trends!
